The Bend Elks of the West Coast League will bring in a really nice left-handed pitcher this season, as junior Austin Guzzon will be part of the Elks pitching staff this summer. Austin is listed at 5 feet 11 inches, and he weighs in at around 190 pounds. He hails from Oceanside, Ca and played JUCO ball at Chemeketa CC. He currently toes the rubber for NAIA Corban College Warriors.

He has put up great numbers for the now 26-19 Warriors. He is currently carrying a 5-4 record, with a stellar 2.00 era in 63 innings pitched. He has made 11 starts this season, pitched two complete games and has one shutout in the books. I’m most impressed by the fact that in his 63 innings pitched, he’s only given up 37 hits. He pounds the strike zone (73 K’s), but he will also have to work on his control this summer (34 walks). He has also help the opposition to a .173 batting average, and put up a WHIP of 1.13 this season.

The Bend Elks will open their 2014 season on June 6th.
